Southwest stayed on the road this young season and took a short trip
over to Western Guilford to face off against the Hornets. The Cowboys
were looking to build off their momentum from the sound victory over
the Falcons this past Friday, while the hosts were looking to rebound
from last nights loss to Ragsdale. Once again the Cowboys gave a
bucket right off the tip, but after a quick 5 point spurt, the Cowboys
quickly took command of the contest. After the first frame the
visitors got up 28-15. The second quarter was more Cowboys, utilizing
a 9-0 run, and a swarming defense, the half ended with a 50-26 tally.
The second half initially started with more Cowboys, including a
quarter opening alley-oop dunk from KJ Langley to Terrell Leach. But
after a couple more Cowboy baskets, the Hornets tried their best to
cut the deficit with an 11-1 run. But SW regrouped and finished the
frame and game strongly, easing to a 94-71 win on the road. Western
was paced by Quinton Miller’s 28 points. The Cowboys were lead by
Terrell Leach with 33 points, 7 Reb, and 4 assts, and KJ Langley with
13 pts, 8 assts, 4 Rebs, and Tyliek Brister with 13 pts, 6 Rebs, and 2
assts.
