Women’s College Basketball Final – Guilford 55, William Peace 45

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Gabby Oglesby (Winston-Salem, N.C./Mount Tabor) scored 16 points to lead Guilford past William Peace University Wednesday night, 55-45, in the Ragan-Brown Field House.

The Quakers (6-2) trailed 9-1 after the first five minutes of play. Rookie Lila Scott put Guilford up 19-18 with 4:51 remaining in the first half after she made two three-pointers and a jumper. Logan Hardin scored five points in the remaining time, putting the Quakers up 24-23 at the half.

The Pacers (2-5) went on a 7-0 run to start the second-half. Two Kayla Adams three-pointers brought Guilford within one. The teams traded the lead until Jaclyn Nucci scored the Quakers’ go-ahead goal with 4:20 left on the clock. Guilford out-rebounded the Pacers 59-29 and the Quakers out-scored their opponents 17-2 in second-chance points.

Hardin had 10 points and 11 rebounds, her second double-double of the season. Oglesby had game-high 14 rebounds, her first double-double of the season. Morgan King added 10 rebounds, seven points and game-high eight assists. Brittany Atwater dished out six assists. Scott tallied eight points in her 10 minutes off the bench.

Crystal Alston paced William Peace with game-high 17 points and added four rebounds and four assists. Derrica Jones had team-high six rebounds and chipped in six points. Rachel Lyons had nine points. Meghan Luffman tallied game-high four blocks.

The Quakers next play home Jan. 5 against Randolph-Macon College at 2:00 p.m. in the Ragan-Brown Field House
