It is with great honor that the staff of NCPreps.com announce the winner of the 2012 Arnold R. Solomon Award for the North Carolina High School Football Player of the Year to running back T.J. Logan of Northern Guilford High School.

Logan, a 5-10 180 senior has led the Nighthawks to three straight 3AA State Championships. The standout rushed for 3,270 yards with 48 touchdowns this season.

In the 3AA State Championship game, he led Northern Guilford to a 64-26 win over Charlotte Catholic. Logan, who was the game MVP, broke the North Carolina state rushing record in a game with 510 yards and scored 8 touchdowns (championship record).

Recently, Rivals.com ranked him as the 69th best prospect in the country. He has verbally committed to North Carolina.

“T.J. Logan has had a remarkable high school career. He has won numerous awards and three state championships. One thing that sets T.J. apart is that he is a humble kid and knows that he couldn’t do what he does without his teammates. The performance in this year’s state championship was probably the best I’ve ever seen. He has great vision and speed. He will be a very successful in whatever he does,” stated Deana King, Publisher of NCPreps.com.

The Arnold R. Solomon Award was started in 2010 in honor of Mr. Solomon, who was the founder of NCPreps.com and North Carolina Prep Football News, Inc. Solomon, who resides in Kannapolis is a long-time high school sports historian and was known state-wide for his Fearless Freddie Farkel football predictions. He also started the North Carolina Prep Football News Yearbook, which is the best source of NC high school information around.

“Arnold retired back in 2009 and I wanted to do something to honor him for all his work dealing with the student athletes. This was a no-brainer to name the award after him,”said King.

NCPreps.com would like to thank News14 Carolina for being the official sponsor of NCPreps.com and this award.

How did this coach survive the investigations of a few years ago and Coach K didn’t. Reading all these posts, it looks like Roscoe is doing the same thing Coach K was kicked out for. Is it because Coach K tried to fight back?

Don’t believe the “bloggers,” myself included. We hide behind a user name and have no real credibility. We can say whatever make us feel better about always losing. If we were winning you would never here a word, even with the same situations ocurring. The same occusations were made of Dudley when they were winning. If someone is dominatating, they must be cheating. It will be someone else next. After the basketball issue Northern was the most reviewed school in Guilford County.

I can tell you the same stories about other schools. For example, I know specifically of three football players that played for NW but actually live in Northern district but I can’t make the claim the it is a violation because I don’t know there case/documentation. If I did I could take it to the proper authorities instead of just making accusations. If it is happening we are responsible for putting an end to it.

There are some legal loopholes that allow you to go to school out of district. These loop holes should not be allowed (i.e. Chinese classes at NW, Dance at Northern, Dudley academy, Parents that teach/work at other schools)

    Congrats to TJ!
Oh, and my old friend Arnold as well!

The reason Roscoe “survived the investigation” was he and his program were clean. All his players were checked and all were in the district. I know this because my son and my family were interviewed by school board officials. The man never recruited. It’s way past time to put this to a rest. As for TJ, young man you deserve this so much. You are a wonderful athlete. You are so humble and I have enjoyed the times you visited our home and you are always welcome. Good luck on your next step. Keep the attitued, which I have no doubt, and the sky is the limit young man!!!!!!!!!!!
