College Women’s Swimming Final – Greensboro 132, Guilford 47

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Guilford’s women’s swimming team fell in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action Friday night at Greensboro College, 132-47. The Quakers drop to 0-5 on the year (0-5 ODAC).

The Quakers had seven second-place finishes on the night, including two by junior Kendra Medina. Medina notched the fourth-fastest time in school history in the 500-yard freestyle with a personal-best time of six minutes, 16.32 seconds. She also took home second in the 200 free with a time of 2:23.93. Medina swam the first leg on Guilford’s 200 freestyle relay, which placed second in 2:11.95.

Freshman Sydney Hawkins turned in a personal and team season-best time of 29.58 seconds to claim second place in the 50 freestyle. Senior Becca Dozier was runner-up in the 200 individual medley (2:57.82) and Morgan McKinnon placed second in the 100 breaststroke in 1:26.12.

Guilford’s Julia Sheehan took third in the 100 butterfly with a college career-low time of 1:19.52, which is the Quakers’ fastest this season.

Following a break for exams and the holidays, coach Emily Wilson’s team returns to action Jan. 18, 2013, when the Quakers swim in an ODAC double-dual meet with Greensboro and Hollins University.
