Greensboro College Women’s Basketball Rolls to 98-59 Road Win

(ELIZABETH CITY, N.C.) — The Greensboro College women’s basketball team picked up a 98-59 road victory over Mid-Atlantic Christian on Saturday afternoon. The win was the second of the year for The Pride against the Mustangs.

Greensboro was in full control from the opening tip, taking an 8-0 lead before Mid-Atlantic Christian would find the score board. The Pride continued to pour it on early, using an 18-0 run to extend the advantage to 26-2 at the 14:34 mark.

Following a Mustang free throw, Greensboro added a pair of buckets to push the margin to 30-3 with 12:28 remaining int the half. The Pride took the opportunity to clear the bench early and cruised into the break with a 54-31 lead.

The second half saw Greensboro go up by as many as 41 points en route to the 90-41 final.

Bianca Richburg ran her double-double streak to five consecutive games with a 23 point, 12 rebound effort. Jena Cabe added 17 points and eight rebounds with Stacy Hicks contributing 14 points. Amber Hair also reached double figures in scoring with 12. Chevena Pickard finished with a game high eight assists.

As a team, The Pride shot 54.1% from the field, including 9-21 from three. The defense limited the Mustangs to a 33.9% shooting mark from the field and a 3-18 performance from beyond the arc.

Greensboro held a decisive 60-26 advantage on the boards and outscored Mid-Atlantic Christian 56-24 in the paint.

The Pride move to 4-2 on the season and will return to action at Barber-Scotia on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
