It was the second time around for these cross town rivals of Andrews and Southwest Guilford. The first matchup just a week old ended with the Cowboys winning at Andrews by the count of 84-63.
This time around SW played hosts to the visiting Red Raiders and looked to keep up the momentum of their 5-0 season so far. The Cowboys came out of the gate red hot for the second straight game scoring the games first 12 points before a put back got the Raiders on the board at 12-2at the 3:20 mark. The lead ballooned all the way to 28-7, and the frame ended with the Cowboys up 30-11.
The second quarter had the Red Raiders respond with some grit and took advantage of some lackadaisical defense by the Cowboys and used a 9-2 run to get the lead back under 20 going into the half with the Cowboys up 49-31.
Southwest used another quick chat about defensive intensity and offensive execution to come out of the break again with the pedal to the metal using an 8-0 and more stifling defense to push the lead to as many as 33, and the third quarter ended with the hosts up 77-46.
The fourth quarter was back and forth with each team playing not very sharp and the Cowboys were able to cruise into victory lane once again to remain perfect on the season with a dominating home win 89-65.
The Red Raiders were lead by Bennie Butler (18), and Chris Eatmon (11). The Cowboys were lead by Terrell Leach (25, 5A, 5R), Tyliek Brister (15, 9A, 5R), KJ Langley (14, 5A), Ben Ferguson (12, 3St), and DJ Chamblee (11, 11R).
