Good stuff:Nick Jones(Northern Guilford) takes his game to same beach where Johnny Manziel fine-tuned his stuff last year

Northern Guilford High School senior Nick Jones will get a chance to play against some of the best senior football players in the country this week.

The Nighthawk wide receiver has been selected to participate in the National Underclassmen Combine All-American Game on Saturday, Dec. 22 in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

He is one of 100 seniors across the United States who will be playing in the contest. The 100 players will be divided into two teams which will be the North and the South,
Jones has been picked to represent the South.

The players reported to Myrtle Beach today and will enjoy a week of practice and meetings prior to the game on Saturday. Last year, Johnny Manziel, the 2012 Heisman Trophy Winner, played in this game.

  1. Andy, I am quite sure that this is good for name recognition only, but this is a rip off. I checked the site and discovered that you have to pay to play in the game. It is a recruiting moneymaker. I feel for the kid if his parents have no money.

  2. All is good and if Manziel was there last year, can’t be all bad…

Good luck to kid and I saw some other area kids on the roster, so I hope it goes good for them too….

Would king of neat/fun to be playing in a football game the Saturday before Christmas….

    Play on….

  3. Andy, someone needs to educate you. This is a money maker. Does give kids a chance at some exposure. No one is picked to play in the game. You nominate a player and they tell you to bring him down. Again a chance at some exposure, but really no big deal.

  4. Part of what I read on this said it was part combine and part All-Star game….

Don’t they always charge for combines?

I have about 25-30 posts a day coming in here each day….

When I saw this one I was happy for Nick Jones for getting this opportunity…It is good to see our local kids involved in events like this one and I hope he gets a chance to play and that he plays well…

    Good luck Nick…
