Kernersville Medical Shootout: Southwest Guilford vs Hopewell Varsity Boys

Southwest once again took the road to face off against the Titans of Hopewell out of Huntersville in the Kernersville Medical Shoot-out held at Northwest Guilford.

The Cowboys came into the game with an unblemished record on the season while the Titans came into tonight after a tough loss to Hough High School, and with a record of 3-6. The opening frame was an even affair as they traded baskets until Southwest held a slim 19-17 lead after the first eight minutes ended.

The second quarter was another story however. The Cowboys came out and showed why they are unbeaten and flew around the both sides of the ball and jumped all over the Titans for the entire quarter and outscore them 28-8 to take a commanding 48-25 lead into the break.

The second half opened with the Cowboys pushing the lead to its peak of 61-27. But the Titans showed courage and out executed and played hard to cut the score to 66-41 at the end of the frame.

The final quarter was a low scoring battle between the benches as the Cowboys held on for another dominating 78-52 victory to remain perfect at 7-0.

The Titans were lead by Taj Middleton with 10 points. Southwest was lead by Terrell Leach (35), and great contributions by KJ Langley (9), Tyliek Brister (8), DJ Chamblee (7) and the rest of the team. The Cowboys face off against The Storm of Southern Guilford tomorrow night at 6pm at Northwest auxiliary gym.
