  1. Good effort by Smith Girls…Definitely can be proud of the way you overcame higher seeded opponents in this tournament…Very scrappy! EAGLE PRIDE!!!

  2. Now do people believe that Page girls are the real deal…great effort by smith tho they defeated 2 real good teams to get that far. A lot of experience on Page girls team.

  3. What you talking about KG, they beat a 0-9 NEG, a 2-9 NWG and a 5-8 Smith team. It continues to show everyone how sorry the selection of team that play in this tournament. I know everyone talks about all the teams are preselected every year. Guilford county has to many good teams that deserve to be showcased……….Dudley 9-2, SEG 12-0, HPA 11-0 and SWG 6-6 would all have made a great tournament, but we have to hear how the Page girls are city champs and they play 3 teams with a combined 7 wins. It’s just a shame that winless or 2 or 3 win team are put on a major stage like this tournament…….you need to take notice of what is happening in Charlotte and Raliegh with their selection of teams and how those tournament are packed and very competive. Congrats to Paris for being selected MVP for scoring 21 points in a combined 3 games. Wow.

  4. Smith beat a good Northern and Greensboro day team…Page won all their games by 15 plus this season…can’t help whose in the tournament but when they do play these school they win big its not close. You can’t hold it against Page for who is on there schedule. They play dudley twice and they’ll beat them twice. You just in denial but this Page squad is pretty good and they’ll only get better as the season goes on.

  5. KG, man and I thought that you knew basketball, they beat NE 3 times and NW twice, they have played 1 quality opponent. Their week schedule of opponents will cost them games in conference play. You can’t get ready to beat Dudley, SEG, Southern Alamance, Mt. Tabor, West Forsyth……building your non conference schedule against NEG, Ragsdale and NW………..good luck down the road……..ha ha…..Who hadn’t beaten NE, NW or Ragsdale by 20-30 points this season……

  6. Yea I know basketball, yea the opponents are weak but all I’m saying is they are playing their schedule. Thing will get tougher n coach jones will have them ready. This is a very experience Page squad. Just go to a game and watch them. They are good on the offensive end but their defense is what they are best at.

  7. The 2nd half of the season will be a good test for Page girls as they will face Dudley, Southeast, and Southern Alamance twice. 3 pretty good teams.

  8. Again I will say that the girls TIMCO Tournament formerly Pizza Hut Tourney has robbed the general public of seeing some pretty darn good girls basketball players over the past five years especially from Thomasville, Southwest Guilford, Eastern Guilford, Southeast Guilford and Rivermill Academy. If Dudley stays in along with the teams mentioned, it would have allowed the fans to see the best talent and the games would have been more competitive. Just think of players from those schools and see what you come up with.

  9. Panther Pride- I truly agree with you, the talent isn’t the best and it could be better. Why did dudley stop being in it tho? I remember when I was in high school the tournament was actually good and competitive.

  10. Each year I have given the solution to force this tournament open to all guilford co or area schools. Just threaten to boycott local sponsors during the tournament or in the month of December. If the sponsors feel as if they will lose money by sponsoring the tournament, then the tournament will be forced to open up to more schools. The basic models are already set up in places like Raleigh. Call at least 2 sponsors within the next week and express your desire for this tournament to open up to your local or favorite school by 2013 or you will boycott their service, product or store next year each time that you hear about the tournament on TV or in print.

  11. Congratulations to the Page team for their victory! Kea shot 3 for 10 from the floor and was named MVP? Johnson shot 2 for 10 from the floor and made the All-Tournament Team. The MVP should have gone to Barnes she was 6 for 10 from the floor and grabbed several rebounds. Did the group who decided these awards watch any of the games during the tournament?

  12. Did not have a vote, but feel certain the awards were not just based on the final game…

Awards bssed on play for the entire tournament, each team played three games and on the awards they were based on more than just scoring and the shooting %….Assists, Blocked shots, Rebounds and all those numbers….Congrats to the Page young ladies and they very happy to win that tournament title…..Talked all four of the Pirates that were named to the All-Tournemant team and they seemed very excited with the end results….
