Boys Basketball – Glenn @ Southwest Guilford

It was a 4A PTC clash between the Bobcats of Glenn high school and the 5th ranked Cowboys of Southwest. These two bitter rivals squared off 4 times last season with the Cowboys getting the better of the Bobcats both times in the post season. So, the Bobcats traveled over to the Ranch looking for some revenge on ending their campaign here last season.

The game opened up as a back and forth battle with 7 lead changes, the biggest belonging to Glenn at 4, but SW scored the final 3 pointer to take a slim 17-16 point lead. The Cowboys scored the first 8 points of the second going up 25-16, but the Bobcats came fighting back and was able to claw back and cut the lead at 36-34 going into the break.

The Bobcats weren’t done and managed to tie the ball game up at 43 with 3:57 to play in the third to make it a ball game. After trading baskets, Ben Ferguson hit a 3 for the Cowboys, but the Bobcats got a 3 point play of their own. Ferguson responded with another long ball, giving the Cowboys a 51-48 lead, which the kept the remainder of the night.

Southwest scored the final 8 points of the 3rd, to take a 56-48 lead going into the final stanza.

The fourth started with 5 more straight Cowboy points as the lead hovered around 10 for the rest of the way as the Bobcats really struggled against the zone in the second half.

In the end The Cowboys remain perfect on the year at 13-0 (3-0) with a 70-60 conference win at home. Glenn was paced by Daiquan Faulks with 16. The Cowboys once again used a great team effort and was lead by Terrell Leach’s near triple double (26, 10Reb, 6 Stl, and 2 Blks), KJ Langley (14, 2 Stls), and Ben Ferguson (12, 4 Reb, 4 Stls). Southwest next hits the road to face off against the Eagles of East Forsyth on Friday night.
