Southwest Guilford @ East Forsyth – Boys Basketball – 01/11/2013

The Cowboys of Southwest traveled over to to face conference foes, the Eagles of East Forsyth. The Cowboys came in to town with a perfect 13-0 record to proctect, but more importantly perfect in the PT4A Conference. The Eagles were looking to bounce back from a tough loss on Tuesday night and give the Cowboys a fight.

The Cowboys came out on fire hitting 4 straight 3’s, and by the time a 6th dropped, SW held a 22-9 lead. But the big and athletic Eagles kept a claw in the game, and even though the hot shooting Cowboys hit a 7th deep ball, the Eagles cut the lead to 28-20 after the first.

The second quarter had the Eagles get both claws into the game as the gun slinging visitors started to cool off. The Eagles tied it at 35 midway through the frame. The final 3:05 of the half there was 6 lead changes, but the Cowboys scored 2 quick buckets in the final seconds to take a 49-45 lead headed into the break.

The Cowboys came out of the break trying to put some distance between the teams and by the 5:00 mark the lead got up to 58-49. The rest of the frame was tick for tack until the Eagles scored twice in a row to make it 68-63 after the third.

The Cowboys opened the final frame with urgency and pushed the lead back to double figures right away and the Eagles started the fouling parade by the 2:40 mark. The Cowboys hit enough free throws down the stretch and won 91-81 to maintain a perfect record.

The Eagles were lead by the combo of Drew Cone and Craig Hinton with 25 each. Southwest was lead by Terrell Leach (34, 9 Rebs), Ben Ferguson (20) and KJ Langley (14).
