This one was a barn burner! It was a pretty close game for a while then Obi Rapu did his thing. This kid is the truth. It was amazing to see both teams trade threes back and forth for about 6 straight possessions!The difference was, by this time, NGFS was up by 15-20 points. Still Vandalia, who fielded a bunch of kids I saw at Shining Light last year, played tough and didn’t stop. Manderson looked much more comfortable around the rim tonight. And sharpshooter Poulos was knocking down the long ball. A young Josh Wilkerson showed up and scored from deep as well as drives to the basket. But the story was Kanayo Obi Rapu Jr. He was honored before the game for scoring his 1000th point (only the 2nd player in NGFS history). Then he came 1 or 2 threes from tying Keemon Ingram’s three pointer school record set last year (I was at that game too!). Good crowd, good music, and great basketball makes for a great night on Pleasant Ridge!
