Women’s College Basketball Final – Guilford 70, Bridgewater 53

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Morgan King (Teachey, N.C./New Hanover) paced the Quakers with a game- and season-high 19 points in Guilford’s 70-53 Old Dominion Athletic Conference win over league-foe Bridgewater College.

The teams exchanged leads from the start until a Brittany Atwater layup put Guilford (14-3, 7-1 ODAC) up for good with 7:45 remaining in the first half. The Quakers improved from a 45.7 field-goal percentage in the first half to 61.5% in the second, shooting over 32% better than their opponents. Guilford scored 27 points off turnovers to the Eagles’ seven. King and Jaclyn Nucci scored 11 and nine second-half points respectively to keep the Quakers on top. The win marks Guilford’s season-high sixth straight win and its 10th in 11 games.

Logan Hardin scored 10 points off the bench. Gabby Oglesby, Atwater and Nucci each contributed nine points. King and Oglesby shared team-high rebounding honors with eight apiece. Oglesby also had four blocks. Kayla Adams tallied three steals and four assists.

Jessica Mullen led Bridgewater (7-7, 5-3 ODAC) with 18 points. Holly Morgan added nine. Katelynn Hottinger had seven points and eight boards off the bench. Shannan Thorne had a game-high nine rebounds and shared team-high steals honors with Morgan and Hottinger.

The Quakers next play home Saturday, January 26 at 2:00 p.m. against ODAC-foe Virginia Wesleyan College in the Ragan-Brown Field House.
