Elon Women’s Tennis Wraps Up Day Two at Wake Forest

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Day two of the Wake Forest Winter Classic concluded today, Jan. 20, and the Elon University women’s tennis team came away victorious in doubles versus Wake Forest and in singles action against Radford.

The tandem of Jordan Johnston and Frida Jansaker carried their momentum from yesterday’s win into day two, topping Wake’s Kathryn Talbert and Kasey Gardiner, 8-6, at the No. 1 doubles spot.

Bryn Khoury and Taylor Casey topped the Demon Deacons’ Catherine Roach and Xue Zhang, 8-2, to help the Phoenix take two out of three doubles matches.

In singles against Radford, Elon claimed wins in 4-of-6 spots with several solid performances.

At No. 2, Jansaker registered a 6-0, 6-3 win in straight sets versus Taylor Newman, her second singles victory of the year.

Viviana Stavreva won a tough battle in straight sets, 7-6 (7-3), 6-4, taking down Radford’s Megan Napolitano at No. 3.

At No. 4 singles, Khoury claimed a dominant 6-1, 6-0 win over Taylor Fay, while Barbora Lazarova registered a 6-0, 6-0 decision at No. 5 against Allison Michaels.

Elon concludes action at the Wake Forest Winter Classic tomorrow when it takes on East Tennessee State in doubles at 9 a.m. before facing host Wake in singles action.
