Talked to former Smith Golden Eagle football coach Rodney Brewington this afternoon and he is now coaching football at Wintersprings High School in Orlando, Florida…Coach Brewington was in the running for a job up here in the Guilford County area, but he heard about the opening down in Florida and made his visit for the interview on December 27 and he got his call-back while he was on his way back to the airport and was hired the same day….

There were 71 applicants for the head football job at Wintergreen HS, which is an 7-A high school in Florida, with aporoximately 2,400 students and it is very similar in size and academic status with our Northwest Guilford High School, here in Guilford County…

Coach Brewington was in the top three among the candidates for the job and he got it and he loves it down in Orlando….Said he has been to Disney World and he attended an Orlando Magic NBA game, with his sons last night(Thursday)….

Brewington’s new school went (2-9) in 2012 and the previous coach had been at the school for 37 years….

Again, Coach Brewington says Wintergreen High School is very acdemic and they have unreal facilities….Spring football practice begins in May at Wintergreen and it will run for a full 20 days….Coach Brewington said they will have a full complete set of Spring Practice workouts….

Coach Rodney Brewington, former head football coach at Ben L. Smith High School and now enjoying the Orlando, Florida sun, on this cold Friday in January of 2013….

Best of luck to Coach Brewington, the man that brought ‘Double E’ Eric Ebron to our attention and now Eric is doing real good for himself at North Carolian with the Tar Heels and thanks to Dennis White, who helped set up our interview by phone, with Coach Rodney Brewington this afternoon and it must be nice to be in Orlando, on this Friday….

Put in four or five years down in Florida and that will be like furthering your education….
