GC Men’s Golf Opens Spring Ranked Third in USA South Coaches Poll

The defending USA South champion Pride men’s golf team will open its spring title defense in third in the USA South coaches poll. Against stellar competition during the fall, Greensboro turned in two top five tournament appearances.

The Pride recorded its best finish in the final tournament of the fall, with a third place ranking at the Guilford College O’Briant-Jensen Memorial. Greensboro also opened the season with a head-to-head victory over Averett.

The Pride entered the season with three returners from last seasons NCAA Tournament top five. Included in that group were USA South individual champion Scott Novicki and conference tournament finalist Nick Peoples. 2011 All-American Kirk Mitchell is also back for his junior season.

Despite the returning experience, the competition during the fall was high. Overall, eight players saw tournament action with John Grimes posting the best team average at 75.9.

Greensboro will return to the course on March 2 at The Tournament at Callaway Gardens hosted by Berry College.
