King, a 6-1 center, helped Guilford push its winning streak to a league-best eight games with ODAC victories over Emory & Henry College and Virginia Wesleyan College. She averaged a club-high 18.0 points over the two games and shot 69.6% from the floor. King also averaged 8.5 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game. She matched her career high with 22 points Jan. 23 at Emory & Henry and hit a personal-best 10 field goals in the game. Three days later she shared game-high honors with 14 points and 10 rebounds in the Quakers’ home triumph over Virginia Wesleyan. King also blocked a career-high four shots, which contributed to the team’s school-record 11 rejections.

Through 19 games, King averages 10.2 points and 7.8 rebounds per game. She stands third on the team in scoring and second in rebounds. Her rebounding average ranks second in the ODAC and her team-high 45.9% field-goal percentage sits fifth. King also contributes 1.5 blocks per game, the league’s third-best figure, and has moved into fourth place among Guilford’s career blocks leaders (96).

Coach Stephanie Flamini’s Quakers (16-3, 9-1 ODAC) put their winning streak on the line Tuesday (1/29) at league-rival Roanoke College. Off to its best start since 2001-02, Guilford hosts Lynchburg Saturday (2/2) at 2:00 p.m. in another ODAC contest.

The Student-Athlete of the Week Award is presented by Guilford’s Student Athlete Advisory Committee, which is comprised of representatives from each of the school’s 20 varsity teams. The group meets regularly to discuss the state of Guilford Athletics and seeks to build community among the school’s student-athletes and non-student-athletes. Recent Guilford SAAC activities include a canned-food drive and participation in Champs Life Skills, which promotes intercollegiate athletics as a key part of the campus educational program and the student-athlete as an integral part of the student body. Its aim is to increase student-athletes’ community involvement and to engage the greater Guilford community with the athletic department.
