Game Report: Southwest vs Ragsdale – Boys Varsity

Almost a month ago was the first rodeo of the season between the Tigers of Ragsdale and the Cowboys of Southwest. That game featured blood, and a player fouling out with only 4 fouls. What kind of drama will this intense rivalry contain?

The Tigers come into the contest off of a big 23 point loss to East Forsyth, while the Cowboys remain perfect on the year following a dominating victory of Northwest. As we all know, records, stats, and standing all go out the window in such rivalry games. Who will prevail?

The opened up with a back and forth battle with each teams trading small leads. A Cowboys three pointer gave the Cowboys the lead for good at 10-8. But the lead however would accordion until Southwest pushed it back out to 26-17 at the close if the first.

The second frame opened with a Tiger three pointer making it 26-20, but the Cowboys scored 7 straight to get the lead up to 33-20. The margin hovered around double digits, as every basket seemed to be matched. The quarter ended however with the hosts scored the final 7 points of the half cutting it to 45-37.

The Tigers opened up the half with 2 quick buckets to make it a ball game at 45-41. From there once again it was up and down until another quick quarter closing spurt made it 63-54.

The Cowboys showed why they are undefeated in the fourth as they put their foot on the gas and scored 30 on the strength of pressure and swarming defense in both the full and half court.

Terrell Leach scored 12 of his Game-high 40 points and completely took control of the game. The final tally was 93-70 as the Cowboys remain undefeated.

The Tigers were led by Daniel Kanakanui with 20 points. The Cowboys were led by Terrell Leach (40, 7 Rebs, 5 Ast, 3 Stl, 2 Blk), DJ Chamblee (19, 3 Reb, 2 Ast), and Ben Ferguson (10, 3 Reb).

It was another phenomenal team effort by the Cowboys moving on to 18-0, (7-0).
