Just a few late night notes on the Greensboro Day-Christ School game tonight:Rewind as Bengals fall for the first time this season

One heck of a high school basketball game and GDS was down by near nine points with just over a minute to play and they staged a furious comeback with three pointers by Reggie Dillard, a two by Christian Hairston and big rebounds and threes by John Terry…

It goes from GDS down 9 to GDS and Christ School deadlocked at 72-72 at the end of regulation…..And then GDS falls in Overtime 91-84 to fall from (30-1)….

Great plays late in this game….The Dillard threes and those weren’t easy threes, the five second call on Christ School, the Hairston floating two from about three feet from the bucket…John Terry’s big threes in regularion and in OT….The Bryan Rouse dunk…

Then there was the held ball call in OT when GDS lost the ball on the alternating possesions and that was a key loss of possession there…

There was the Reggie Dillard timeout call as he was flying out-of-bounds and Christ School is still probably talking about that one….

GDS shot just 9 free throws in the second half, including the OT period….
Christ School shot 23 FT’s in the second half…..

Just a game filled with big moments and GDS did not protect the lane tonight as they normally do on defense…Too many layups by Christ School…Too much space allowed on the drive, that is correctable….

One heck of an exciting game and I hate the Bengals had to loose it, but they had too foul too many times and they lost Reggie and Montrell Goldston to fouls in OT and that was big….

More in the morning and you may have some to share with us too….

One of the best atmosphere’s for a game that you will ever see and much like a playoff-type setting and as you will ever get to ‘Tournament Time’…..

More notes in the morning and good ball game for the fans and all of the spectators that turned out to see this one tonight….

  1. @ Andy

Great Summary and well said..What a game, and what an atmosphere at the Bengal gym. You cannot get that type of atmosphere anywhere else in the triad. My questions is, “why were their no news stations in the house”? I mean seriously? Was their seriously other local games more exciting than this one on paper? Just goes to show you, GDS still gets disrespected…But I love your summary Andy, and I totally agree, if Montrell and Reggie stay in the game, things may have turned out differently. But this may turn out to be a blessing for these kids. The pressure is off, now they can just focus on the season and finish it out..
The fans and atmosphere at the GDS gym was awesome all year, best in the area..Kind of like a “mini” Cameron indoor…Will miss this group of Seniors…Can’t wait to see where Montrel Goldston ends up signing with…

  2. This years GDS student section and gym atmosphere was special (i mean these kids made cutout carboard heads of players). GDS has been the most exciting team to watch all year as they are followed by lots of fans and are very underrated. Cant wait to see what dillard gym will be like next year
