Game Report: Southwest vs Glenn Varsity Boys Basketball

The Cowboys of the Southwest took to the road tonight to face off against the Bobcats of Glenn High School in a PTC matchup. The Cowboys look to continue their winning ways and remain perfect on the year, while the Bobcats hoped to be the first to take down the #2 team in the state.

The opening quarter started with each team equaling baskets for the first 5 possessions. A Glenn 3 pointer gave them a 7-6 lead, and then the lead changed 7 straight trips as neither team felt like stopping each other. Southwest was the first team to get a defensive stop and score Seven straight to open up the lead 21-13. A Glenn bucket made it 21-15 at the end of the first.

The second quarter opened with 5 straight Cowboy points to make it 26-15, and the lead remained around double digits for the rest of the half and the Cowboys took a 43-31 lead headed into the break.

The second half featured a quarter with some defense as the Cowboys quickness gave Glenn troubles, and held them to only 8 points as the lead hovered around 20, and the quarter ended with the Cowboys up 60-39.

The fourth quarter wasn’t pretty, but SW used its depth and quickness to pull out another win.

The final tally was 82-67, and the Cowboys move to 19-0, and 8-0 in the PTC.

Glenn falls to 7-13, and 3-6, and was led by Yiannis Bowden with 21 points.

SW was led by Terrell Leach’s monster double double, (39, 15 Reb, 5 Stls), and KJ Langley (12).

SW plays host to Central tomorrow night.
