The GTCC baseball team split a double header on Saturday with home standing Wake Tech Community College. Wake Tech rallied by the Titans in Game 1 by scoring 3 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning and hanging on to win 11-8. The Titans exacted some revenge in Game 2 by beating the Eagles into submission through the 10-run mercy rule by a score of 12-1.
In Game 1, the Titans raced to an early 5-0 lead. Wake Tech rallied for 8 runs in the bottom of the 5th inning to take a 3 run lead. GTCC answered back in the top of the 6th inning with 3 runs to tie the game only to see the Eagles plate 3 more runs in the bottom of the 6th inning and hang on to win 11-8. TJ Wharton led the Titan hitters going 3-4 with 2 RBI’s. Cody Adkins, Ernesto Fernandez, Edwin Soto, and Carlos Alegria all had 2 hits apiece for the Titans.
Game 2 saw the Titans send 9 hitters to the plate in the 1st inning, race to a 4-0 lead, and never look back en route to a 12-1 pasting of Wake Tech in a 5-inning mercy rule win. TJ Wharton again led the Titan hitters going 3-4 with 6 RBI’s. Jamie Dove and Cody Adkins also added 3 hits apiece for the Titans.
The Titan returned to action today with a home double header with these same Wake Tech Eagles. First pitch was scheduled for Game 1 at 1:00, and games will be played at Ragsdale High School….
