Meet the Phoenix Dinner Wednesday, Feb. 13, at 6 p.m., The Cutting Board

• The Phoenix baseball team will hold its third annual Meet the Phoenix Dinner at The Cutting Board on Wednesday night at 6 p.m. The cost is $15 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under. Email Carl Hairston (ghairston@elon.edu) to reserve your seat.
• Elon was selected to win the 2013 Southern Conference title by the league’s coaches, while the media picked the maroon and gold to finish second.
• Four Phoenix players earned preseason all-league honors – starting pitcher Dylan Clark, catcher Alex Swim and first baseman Ryan Kinsella were first-team picks and relief pitcher Nate Young was a second-team selection.
• The Phoenix will host the Country Inn and Suites Elon Invitational Friday-Sunday at Latham Park. Elon welcomes Marist, Boston College and VCU for a total of six games over the weekend.

Men’s Basketball (16-8, 9-3 Socon)
Elon vs. Appalachian State, Thursday, Feb. 14, at 7 p.m., Alumni Gym
Elon vs. Western Carolina, Saturday, Feb. 16, at 7 p.m., Alumni Gym

• The Phoenix returns home this week with a pair of games against instate rivals Appalachian State and Western Carolina.
• Elon’s 16 wins are the most in program history since joining the Division I ranks, as the team has won eight of its last nine games.
• Lucas Troutman needs two blocks to set Elon’s all-time program record, while Jack Isenbarger became the third player in program history to reach 200 career three-pointers after Saturday’s game at Furman.

Men’s Tennis (1-3)
Elon vs. Wingate, Saturday, Feb. 16, at 9:30 a.m., Jimmy Powell Tennis Center
Elon vs. Washington & Lee, Saturday, Feb. 16, at 1:30 p.m., Jimmy Powell Tennis Center

• Elon plays its first home match of the season at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center with a Saturday doubleheader versus Wingate and Washington & Lee.
• The Phoenix dropped a pair of close matches last week against ACC foes #34 NC State and #36 Wake Forest.
• Cameron Siverman and Stefan Fortmann earned preseason national rankings in singles and doubles. Silverman is ranked #21 in singles, while Fortmann is ranked #117. In doubles, the tandem ranks #22 in the nation.

Track and Field
Virginia Tech Challenge, Feb. 15-16, Blacksburg, Va.

• The Phoenix won four event titles on Friday, Feb. 8, at the Liberty Quad, while having several members of the squad set new meet records and ECAC qualifying marks.
• Allyson Oram set a new meet record in the 3,000-meter race at the Liberty Quad. Oram won the event title after running a ECAC qualifying time of 10:03.88, the second-fastest mark at Elon. Tereza Novotna (10:17.67) and Haylee Dawe (10:25.15) also broke the previous meet record and joined Oram in the top-five.
• Freshman high jumper Megan Kirschling was named the Southern Conference’s Indoor Women’s Field Athlete of the Week last Wednesday, Feb. 6. The West Deptfort, N.J., native competed as an individual in the Tyson Indoor Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 9, in Fayetteville, Ark., against some of the top collegiate athletes in the nation and finished 11th with a cleared height of 5’5.75″ (1.67m).
• Sydney Griffin, Louise Prevoteau and Haley Laird each won the individual title in their events at the Liberty Quad. Griffin clocked a time of 8.87 in the 60-meter dash, Prevoteau had a leap of 18’2.25” (5.54m) in the long jump and Laird took medalist honors in the high jump after clearing the bar at 5’5.75” (1.67m).

Women’s Basketball (12-10, 9-4 SoCon)
Elon at Samford, Monday, Feb. 11, at 8 p.m. (eastern), Birmingham, Ala.
Elon at UNCG, Saturday, Feb. 16, at 2 p.m., Greensboro, N.C.

• Elon will look to get back in the win column when it takes on Samford on Monday, Feb. 11, in Birmingham, Ala., for the Bulldogs Play 4Kay game.
• Despite the loss at Chattanooga on Saturday, Kelsey Evans led all players in scoring with 19 points, while coming close to a double-double with eight boards. Rookie Autumn Carter posted a career-high three blocks in the game.
• Last week, Ali Ford was named the SoCon Player of the Week after averaging 17 points per game against Appalachian State and Western Carolina, going 11-of-20 from the field for a 55 percent shooting mark. The senior hit two threes, setting the new SoCon career record, and went 10-for-11 from the free throw line (90 percent). The Morganton, N.C., native also finished with nine rebounds, six assists and five steals.

Women’s Tennis (5-1)
Elon vs. USC Upstate, Saturday, Feb. 16, at 10:30 a.m., Jimmy Powell Tennis Center
Elon vs. North Carolina A&T, Saturday, Feb. 16, at 3:30 p.m., Jimmy Powell Tennis Center

• The Phoenix returns home this weekend for a Saturday doubleheader against USC Upstate and N.C. A&T.
• Elon won a pair of 7-0 decisions over the weekend against North Carolina Central and North Carolina Wesleyan at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.
• The No. 1 doubles team of Jordan Johnston and Frida Jansaker is off to a 7-1 start this season, while senior Briana Berne, ranked 119th in the nation, has recorded a 7-1 record in singles action thus far.
