In a key Piedmont Triad Conference match-up, Ragsdale hosted the Glenn Bobcats on Tuesday night. With fourth place in the Conference all tied up with High Point Central, Glenn and Ragsdale with identical 4 – 6 records, the two teams knew this was a must win game in order to stay alive in the race for a home game in the first round of the Conference Tournament
The game did not start well for the Tigers as they couldn’t hit an outside shot and got all of their scoring on the inside from Jarrett Holland who put 7 first quarter points on the board. Ragsdale found themselves down by nine at 16 – 7 at the end of the first eight minutes. Domonique Archie outscored Ragsdale by himself in the first quarter, hitting two threes and scoring a total of eight points.
Ragsdale finally got their offense untracked in the second quarter and took their first lead of the night with 53 seconds left in the half on a James Stepp three pointer as the Tigers went up 30 – 28. DaiQuan Faulks got a bucket for Glenn with 5 seconds left and sent the two teams to the locker room knotted up at 30.
The two teams went back and forth in the third quarter with eight ties or lead changes. The largest lead for either team was three points and Glenn scored the last three points of the quarter to go up by 44 – 42. It took Ragsdale fifteen seconds of the fourth quarter to retake the lead as Daniel Kanakanui hit a three pointer to give the Tigers a one point lead. They would extend the lead to four before Glenn came back to tie it up at 48 on two Yiannis Bowden foul shots. Joe Bryant hit a three with 3:50 left to give Ragsdale the 51 – 48 lead and they would never trail again. Dylan Willis scored on a layup to extend the lead to five. Ragsdale was still up by three with two minutes to play before Stepp went 4 for 4 from the charity stripe to offset a DaiQuan Faulks basket to give the Tigers a five point lead. Glenn would get no closer. Kenyon Mack got a big rebound after a Bobcat miss and with Glenn in a full court scramble defense, Kanakanui found Joe Bryant open under the basket and Bryant converted the layup to open the lead to 7 with 30 seconds left to seal the win. Glenn missed two three pointers on the next two trips down the floor and Kanakanui hit two free throws, before Glenn got a basket with under a second left to make the final 63 – 56.
Ragsdale had three players in double figures led by Daniel Kanakanui with 15 followed by Joe Bryant with 13 and James Stepp with 12. The leading scorer for Glenn was Domonique Archie with 11 and Marques Henderson with 10.
The Ragsdale win combined with the High Point Central loss to Southwest Guilford, puts the Tigers in control of fourth place in the Conference. They face Central on Friday night and a win would clinch fourth and a home game on Monday in the first round of the Tournament.

The Lady Tigers played host to the Lady Bobcats from Glenn on Tuesday night as the regular season winds down. Ragsdale had a great first quarter culminated with Mikayla Pettyjohn getting a steal and converting an old-fashioned three point play as they went up 13 – 10 after eight minutes had elapsed. The problem was they forgot to play the second quarter as Glenn “pitched a shutout”, holding the Lady Tigers scoreless while they got nine points from Deonna Young as part of their 11 total as they took a 21 – 13 lead at the half.
Glenn went up by as many as 12 points in the third and had a 34 – 23 lead headed to the final quarter. Ragsdale got as close as seven points in the final quarter but could not get any closer as they were unable to overcome the scoreless second quarter.
Glenn was led in scoring by Deonna Young who had 17 points and Domonique Claytor and Jhonaisha Watson who both scored 10. Ragsdale got 15 points from Mikayla Pettyjohn and Godwin Dooley with 10.
