GC Baseball Opens Series With 8-2 Loss to Ferrum

The Pride baseball team (3-3, 1-3 USA South) fell to Ferrum (3-4, 1-3 USA South) on Friday afternoon 8-2. Greensboro entered the game on a two game winning streak but was unable to maintain its early lead in this one.

Greensboro struck first with two runs in the first inning. Seth Caison got the first hit of the game with a single to center field. James Feldmann would then connect with a two run home run.

The Pride threatened in the third with runners on second and third but came up empty. In the sixth inning Greensboro loaded up the bases but again was unable to extend its lead.

Ferrum found the board in the fourth to trail 2-1, and then added three in the sixth to make it 4-2. The Panthers exploded for four in the eighth to pull away for the 8-2.

Greensboro was led by Caison, Feldmann, Bill Wooding, and Joshua Powell with two hits apiece. Feldmann had two runs batted in. John Atkins pitched 5.2 innings giving up four runs on eight hits.

The Pride will look even the series in game two tomorrow against Ferrum. The first pitch has been pushed back to 2:00 p.m.
