Tobs Announce 1st Annual Varsity Classic

Wilson, NC – The Wilson Tobs are proud to announce the schedule for the 1st Annual Varsity Spring Baseball Classic to be held at Historic Fleming Stadium on Saturday March 2nd, 2013.

The Varsity Classic will feature four games involving eight high school teams from around the area with games starting at 11:00 a.m. They will also mark the first games of the season played at Historic Fleming Stadium.
“We are thrilled to get an early start to the 2013 season at Historic Fleming Stadium,” said general manager Thomas Webb. “We feel this is the first of many steps in making Fleming Stadium a year round venue for the community of Wilson.”

The full slate of games will begin with Northern Nash playing New Bern at 11:00. Following that game, Southern Nash will square off against Northwest Guilford at 1:30. In the second session of games, D.H. Conley will play Ragsdale at 4:00 before the fourth and final game of the night will feature Southwest Guilford and Hunt High School at 7:00. The game schedule is listed below:

11:00 AM Northern Nash vs. New Bern
1:30 PM Southern Nash vs. Northwest Guilford
4:00 PM D.H. Conley vs. Ragsdale
7:00 PM Hunt vs. Southwest Guilford

For just $6, fans can purchase an all-day pass and enjoy a full day of baseball action at Historic Fleming Stadium. The gates will open at 10:30 a.m. prior to the 1st game of the day.

The Wilson Tobs are a proud member of the Coastal Plain League, entering their 17th season in the nation’s hottest summer collegiate baseball league. The CPL features 14 teams playing in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia and gives college players the chance to refine their skills with the use of wooden bats. Players are housed with local host families for the summer and past experiences have been very positive for both players and hosts.
