HIGH POINT CHRISTIAN QB QUENTIN CHAVIS WILL PLAY FOOTBALL AT GREENSBORO COLLEGE

Quentin Chavis, High Point Christian Academy’s starting quarterback for the past two years, will continue his football career at Greensboro College. Chavis is the first player from the class of 2013 to decide where he will attend college. Chavis posted impressive numbers during his two years with the Cougars including leading the Carolina Piedmont Football Conference in yards passing and touchdowns as a junior. As a senior, Chavis threw for 12 touchdowns. For the past two seasons, he has been the signal caller for an up-tempo, no-huddle, pass-heavy offense. Chavis leaves HPCA as its career leader in yards passing, completions and touchdowns.

“Quentin has been a tremendous player for us and we are pleased he will be playing for an outstanding coaching staff at Greensboro College,” commented Steve Lechner, Head Coach of the HPCA Cougars. “Q is a hard worker on the field and in the film room.” When Chavis arrived the Cougars were coming off of their initial varsity season in which they finished with a 1-9 mark. Thanks in large part to Chavis’s play on the field and leadership in the locker room, HPCA broke through in its third season earning its first trip to the playoffs. “Q has a strong arm and a firm understanding of how to lead a complex, multiple offense,” Lechner added. Chavis expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to hone his skills at HPCA. “I am excited to move to next level and continue to grow” Chavis commented.

Greensboro College is a four-year, independent, co-education liberal arts college located in downtown Greensboro, North Carolina. The Pride, led by second year Head Coach Bill Young, play at the NCAA Division III level as a member of the USA South Athletic Conference. Greensboro College posted a 5-5 record in 2012. High Point Christian Academy looks forward to additional senior football players committing to play collegiately in the near future. According to Coach Lechner, “College programs can see that we have high quality, well-coached players who are also great students and solid citizens off the field.”
