GC Men’s Tennis Rallies Past Emory & Henry for 5-4 Win

The Greensboro College men’s tennis team earned its first win of the season with a 5-4 comeback win over Emory & Henry on Sunday. It was also the first Pride victory for first year head coach Andy Smith.

Greensboro fell behind 3-0 after doubles play but stormed back with a solid singles showing. With the match tied at 4-4, Matthew Miller provided the clincher with a 6-4, 6-7 (5), 6-0 win over Webster Gilley at number one.

Also earning wins for The Pride were Kyle Gatti over John Hanlon at three (6-1, 6-0), Matthew Troy over Jonathan Romano at four (6-4, 6-3), Matt Moscatello over Daniel Ohlman at five (6-3, 6-2) and Ian Weiner over Cody Houk at six (6-1, 6-0).

The Pride improve to 1-2 on the season. Greensboro will travel to play cross town rival Guilford on Wednesday. The match will begin at 2 p.m.
