Southwest Guilford advances over Grimsley

HIGH POINT-Terrell Leach scored 37 points to lead top-seeded Southwest Guilford to an 88-70 win over 16-seed Grimsley High School.

Rayshaun Mayfield had 29 points for the Whirlies, but fouled out with 3:08 in the 4th quarter.

After a slow start, Leach got the Cowboys going following a dunk in the 2nd quarter. Then he stole the ball and was fouled shooting a three and made 2 of 3 free throws. Leach never looked back.

The full court press by the Cowboys forced an up-tempo game that played into their style.

Grimsley stayed right at the heels of Southwest Guilford, only down by 4 going into the 4th quarter. Good free throw shooting and a few athletic blocks from the Cowboys sealed the win in the 4th.

Southwest Guilford advances to play on Wednesday at home against the winner of the WS Reagan at Northwest Guilford game.
