College Golf Results – Guilford Tied For Seventh at Davidson Invitational

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Guilford College’s golf team shot 310 and shares seventh place after Monday’s opening round of the Davidson College Invitational.

The host Wildcats lead the 11-team field after shooting 297 on the par-72, 7,208-yard layout at the River Run Country Club. All four of Davidson’s scorers placed among the top-11 individuals in the 60-man field. Marshall University (298) sits one shot back in second and Gardner-Webb University is three strokes off the lead after Monday’s 300.

Guilford senior Noah Ratner recorded five birdies, including three over his last nine holes, and shares fifth place at one-over-par 73. Ratner is two strokes behind 18-hole leader Nathan Kerns of Marshall, who turned in the day’s low round with a one-under 71. Cory Taylor (Wofford), Jared Carver (Campbell) and Steve Jones (Gardner-Webb) share second place at 72.

Guilford sophomore Nick Shedd shares 19th place after shooting 76 and teammate Dallas Page (Reidsville, N.C./Rockingham County (Averett)) is tied for 32nd after shooting 79. Drew Thompson’s 82 rounded out the Quakers’ scoring and put him in a share of 46th place.

Tuesday’s second and final round begins at 8:30 a.m.
