HS Baseball Game Report on Northern Guilford over Eastern Guilford tonight

Northern was able to hang on and pull out a pitchers dual between the senior from Northern Guilford Matt Kaplan and the freshman from Eastern Guilford Andrew Robinson. Both pitchers threw very well tonight but Northern was able to scratch for 2 runs. Brant Williams for Northern had a leadoff double in the 4th inning and would be sac bunted over to 3rd and Mason Monroe would get a hit over a drawn in infield to drive in the first run. Then Northern would strike again in the 6th with Matt Page would leadoff with a double then Robinson would then strike out Brant Williams and then give up a walk before being lifted. Austin Koonce would come in and give up a single to drive in the 2nd run for Northern. Austin Coltrane would come in to relieve Kaplin and would have an easy 6th and then would struggle a little in the 7th giving up a leadoff walk, ground ball out and then a single to put the tying run on with 1 out. Then center-fielder Brant Williams would make a diving catch to pretty much seal the game.

  1. Grimsley 3 Lee County 2 in 9 innings. Great defensive battle. Zach LaBranche and Zach Massey did great jobs on the hill for Grimsley. Jake Simpson single with 2 outs in the 9th drove in the winning running with the bases loaded.
