The Greensboro College women’s lacrosse team (0-6 overall) gave unbeaten Marymount (4-0 overall) all it could handle on Sunday, but fell in the end by a score of 15-8.

The Saints appeared to be in control from the beginning, racing out to an 7-1 first half lead. The Pride fought back, outscoring Marymount 4-1 down the stretch to head into the break trailing 8-5.

Brittany Ziobro scored two first half goals, with Alexa Besch, Kirstin Norris and Nadya Fedun also finding net.

Greensboro opened the second half with two quick goals to pull to within 8-7. Ziobro tossed in the first goal 39 seconds into the frame, with Fedun adding a free position goal at the 26:00 mark.

The Saints extended the lead back to 10-7 before Micaela Sandoval beat the goalie to close the deficit to 10-8 with 15:15 to play. That was as close as The Pride would get, as Marymount put the next five goals on the board en route to the 15-8 win.

The Saints held a 26-21 advantage in total shots and won 15 of 24 draw controls. Defensively, Greensboro forced 16 Marymount turnovers.

Ziobro tied for a game high three goals with Fedun contributing two. Ziobro also picked up a team best three ground balls. Five different players each recorded one caused turnover apiece.

Kaleigh Hemstock turned away six shots but took the loss in goal for The Pride.

Greensboro will look for its first win on Tuesday with a 4 p.m. road match-up with Goucher.
