The GTCC Titan baseball team swept a double header from conference foe USC-Lancaster on Sunday. The wins move the Titans’ record to 3-1 in conference play and 8-8 overall.
In Game 1, the Titan rallied from a 2-0 deficit by scoring 5 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning and hung on to win 5-2. Titan pitcher Garrett Hickman was dominant from start to finish as he tossed all 7 innings to pick up the complete game win. Hickman scattered 5 hits and struck out 8. Ernesto Fernandez had an RBI double, and Brandon Burkes(Dudley HS) and Dillon Barker(Southeast Guilford HS) each added 1 RBI for the Titans.
Game 2 saw the Titans send 9 batters to the plate in the bottom of the first inning and score 5 runs en route to a 6-4 victory. Tiger Miller(High Point Christian Academy), Carlos Alegria, and Dillon Barker all collected 2 hits, and starting pitcher Austin Cole picked up the win on the mound for the Titans.
The Titans return to action this coming weekend as they travel to Region X foe Florence-Darlington Tech for a big 4-game series.
