Ratner placed second in the 60-man Davidson Invitational Mar. 4-5 with a 36-hole score of 73-73–146. He helped Guilford finish seventh among 10 teams, all of which were NCAA Division I aside from the Quakers. Ratner finished one shot behind individual medalist Sam Echikson of the host Wildcats, who finished one-over-par on the 7,208-yard track at River Run Country Club in Davidson, N.C.

The performance was Ratner’s best finish of the season and his third consecutive top-seven result. He lowered his stroke average to a team-best 73.47, which also leads the ODAC. A two-time PING First Team All-American, Ratner is the defending NCAA Division III Player of the Year, according to the Golf Coaches Association of America.

Coach Corey Maggard’s team is ranked 11th in the latest Golf World/Nike Golf Division III Coaches’ Poll and 10th in the Golfstat.com Division III Head-to-Head Rankings. Guilford is back in action Mar. 22-24 at the Camp Lejeune Intercollegiate.

The Student-Athlete of the Week Award is presented by Guilford’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, which is comprised of representatives from each of the school’s 20 varsity teams. The group meets regularly to discuss the state of Guilford Athletics and seeks to build community among the school’s student-athletes and non-student-athletes. Recent Guilford SAAC activities include a canned-food drive and participation in Champs Life Skills, which promotes intercollegiate athletics as a key part of the campus educational program and the student-athlete as an integral part of the student body. Its aim is to increase student-athletes’ community involvement and to engage the greater Guilford community with the athletic department.
