GC Men’s Lacrosse Win Streak Ends With Loss to RPI

The Greensboro College men’s lacrosse team (3-5 overall) saw its three game win streak snapped on Tuesday afternoon in a 15-4 loss to Rensselaer (RPI).

RPI jumped on top early, taking a 6-0 lead after one period of play. Blaine Wise recorded the lone Pride goal of the first half, with a second period score sandwiched between two Engineer goals. RPI went into the break holding an 8-1 lead, with a 35-8 advantage in total shots.

The Engineers padded the lead in the third, outscoring Greensboro 5-1 to make the score 13-2 going into the final frame. The Pride’s only goal came in the opening minute when Justin Pearson beat the keeper for an unassisted score.

Greensboro played RPI even in the fourth, with both teams finding net twice. Jaeger Carlyle and Nick Lusardi both finished with goals for The Pride.

Greensboro won the shot count in the second half 20-18 but dropped the overall total 53-28. The Engineers also won 17 of the 21 faceoffs. The Pride defense forced 19 turnovers, while the offense turned the ball over 16 times.

Ryan Kissner paced Greensboro in shots with seven. Carlyle added five with a team high three shots on goal. Tracey Armstrong led the defensive effort with five caused turnovers.

The Pride will be back at home on Thursday, March 21 against Otterbein. Game time is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on Pride Field.
