Powerade State Games High School Soccer Coaches Announced
Registration is open and tryouts are scheduled to begin

DURHAM, North Carolina,– The Powerade State Games High School Soccer Showcase will take place June 22-23 at Wingate University. Some of the best boys and girls soccer players in the state will tryout to represent their region at the High School Soccer Showcase. The Showcase features six boys teams and four girls teams comprised of rising Juniors and Seniors (classes of 2014 & 2015).

The coaches have been selected for each regional team and are listed below with their high school in parentheses and the head coach listed first:
Girls West – Jason Dragoon (E. Lincoln), Craig Long (W. Henderson), Kelly Taylor (Statesville Christian), Rita Esterwood (Franklin)
Girls South – Nick Brown (W. Rowan), David Jones (W. Alamance), Kenan James (Forbush), Dennis Deutschle (Williams)
Girls North – Drew Nick (Rocky Mount)
Girls East – Leshaun Jenkins (Tarboro), Bryan Martinez (Hobbton)
Boys West – Freddy Oviedo (Hendersonville), Angelo Palozzi (Newton Conover), David Fiest (Owen), Josh Martin (T.C. Roberson)
Boys South – Timothy Long (Providence), Matthew Merrill (Olympic), Frank Higginbotham (Mallard Creek)
Boys Midwest – Shaun Abernathy (W. Guilford), Will Hurley (Mount Airy), Sean Fitzgibbon (Randleman)
Boys Central – Alix Charles (Ravenscroft), Tim Healy (Cardinal Gibbons), Mason Goss (Trinity)

The Powerade State Games of North Carolina is gearing up for another year of exciting competition in the Charlotte region. The 27th annual Powerade State Games begins on June 1st and concludes on June 30th and covers the entirety of Mecklenburg County and beyond, with competitions taking place in Mooresville, Huntersville, Cornelius, Davidson, Charlotte, Indian Trail, Pineville and Wingate. Registration is now open for all sports. Athletes can visit www.ncsports.org to register for each event.

The 2013 Opening Ceremonies will be held June 21 at the NASCAR Hall of Fame in uptown Charlotte. The Opening Ceremonies features a commemorative gift for participating athletes, games, music, a parade of athletes and a lighting of the cauldron to announce the official start to the 2013 Powerade State Games of North Carolina.
