GREENSBORO, N.C. – Freshman Adam Fiore (Ithaca, N.Y./Ithaca) scored a game- and career-high three goals in Guilford College’s 13-5 lacrosse victory over visiting Farmingdale State College Wednesday.

The Quakers (4-2) reeled off 11 straight goals after Farmingdale State’s Mike Strebel netted the game’s first tally midway through the first quarter. Duncan Fitzgerald netted the equalizer a minute later, before Fiore and Henry Farley scored 15 seconds apart to open a 3-1 Guilford lead.

The streak extended into the third quarter as eight different Quakers scored during the run. Guilford outshot the Rams (1-3), 19-12, in the second and the third quarters and Quakers’ goalie Garrison Goth made seven of his game- and career-high 12 saves in that time.

Farmingdale State’s Nicholas Mattei finally broke Guilford’s run with a goal 1:32 before the end of the third quarter. The Rams outscored Guilford, 3-2, in the final quarter.

Guilford’s Farley finished with four points on two goals and two assists. Juquan Tellis, Chandler Zirkle and Taylor Teodosio both contributed a goal and an assist. Tellis also won five-of-11 face-offs and picked up five ground balls. Ian Wiesenberg also had five ground balls, which helped the Quakers to a 33-25 edge in pickups.

Strebel scored twice for Farmingdale State and Steve Suris added one goal and two assists. Donovan Devaney won 10-of-17 face-offs and picked up a game-best seven ground balls.

The Quakers entertain Lynchburg College Saturday (3/16) night at 7:00 p.m.
