Women’s College Tennis Final – Guilford 6, N.C. Wesleyan 3

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — Guilford College women’s tennis swept its doubles matches as part of its 6-3 victory over host North Carolina Wesleyan College Wednesday.

Natalie Sutton won her tough second singles match against N.C. Wesleyan’s (0-5) Katie Beeman, 7-6 (7-5), 7-5. Allison Hewitt defeated her fifth singles opponent 6-0, 6-3 and Fernanda Gonzalez won at six singles, 6-3, 6-2.

Guilford’s (3-4) Haley Andrews and Allie Guy won first doubles, 8-6. Kim Kleimeier and Sutton paired to defeat their second-doubles opponents Tori Jones and Bristy Parker, 8-5. Gonzalez and Hewitt secured the Quakers’ sixth win with a 8-2 third doubles performance.

Guilford plays host to Old Dominion Athletic Conference-newcomer Shenandoah University Saturday, Mar. 16. The match will commence at 1:00 p.m. at the McMichael Centennial Class Courts.
