College Women’s Lacrosse Final – Guilford 21, Randolph 8

LYNCHBURG, Va. – E’leyna Garcia scored six goals and Lily Colley added five in Guilford College’s 21-8 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) lacrosse win at Randolph College Wednesday night.

Both Garcia and Colley finished with eight points on the night as the Quakers improved to 5-1 (2-0 ODAC), matching the best start in the program’s 30-year history.

Randolph (3-3, 0-3 ODAC) briefly held a 2-1 advantage early in the game, but just four seconds after Ashley Edwards gave the WildCats the lead, Garcia netted her first goal off a Becca Colley feed. The score triggered a 12-1 Guilford outburst over the next 20 minutes that included four goals apiece by Garcia and Lily Colley.

Guilford held a 15-5 halftime lead and Randolph drew no closer than nine goals in the second half.

A season-high seven different Quakers scored, including Becca Colley and Eleanora Keene, who both had three goals. Colley added a game-high three assists for six points, and also collected six draw controls. Keene led all players with eight draws, and also forced a game-high four turnovers. Her game- and career-high nine ground balls match her total from Saturday’s win at Sweet Briar College and rank second in Guilford history. Senior goalie Liza Mettler made seven saves, five in the first half.

Taylor Klevenz paced Randolph with three goals and an assist. Edwards also tallied three times and goaltenders Samantha Fagone and Sara Woodward combined for 14 saves.
