College Indoor Track and Field Results – Guilford Competes in Day One of the Wake Forest Open

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.—-Guilford College Men’s and Women’s Track & Field challenged school records in day one of the Wake Forest Open. The meet contains a mixture of Division I, II, and III schools as well as institutions from the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).

Chad Norton finished eighth in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 14:55.61, the second-best time among Division III contestants. Norton’s time is second best in school history and missed the school record by just 1.32 seconds. Andris Goncarovs finished 16th in the race and fourth amongst Division III runners with a time of 15:16.82.

David Cason (Clemmons, N.C./West Forsyth) finished fifth in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 9:37.63, the best amongst the Division III field. Cason’s time is the fourth best in school history.

Josh Farrar (Greensboro, N.C./Northwest Guilford) brought in the fifth best Division III time in the 400 meter dash at 50.82 seconds. Farrar’s time was just .53 seconds off his own school record.

Jennifer Thomas (Randleman, N.C./Randleman) (13.85) set a new school mark in the 100 meter dash, taking .1 second off of her own school-best mark.

Pasangi Perera finished .67 seconds away from the school-best mark in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:10.51.

Rebecca Reyna (Liberty, N.C./Southern Alamance) (12:39.88) finished the 3,000 meter steeplechase with the school’s third-best mark.

Jasmine O’Neill (Winston-Salem, N.C./Parkland) finished the 1,500 meter run with the fifth-best time in school history at 5:34.26.

Guilford continues their competition tomorrow in day two of the Wake Forest Open.
