Powerade State Games High School Softball Coaches Announced
Registration is open and tryouts are scheduled to begin

DURHAM, North Carolina – The Powerade State Games High School Softball Showcase will take place June 24-27 at Wingate University. The High School Softball Showcase pits the best 20 underclassmen players from eight North Carolina regions against each other to battle it out in front of college scouts for the gold, silver and bronze medals. The Showcase also features a High School Senior East vs. West series.

The coaches have been selected for each regional team and are listed below with their high school in parentheses and the head coach listed first:
Region 1 – Jack Beirne (Northside), Louise Beirne (Northside)
Region 2 – Brittney Lehrschall (N. Brunswick), Morgan Farroll (Hobbton)
Region 3 – Robbie Wray (Middle Creek)
Region 4 – Stuart Gilmer (Gray’s Creek)
Region 5 – Mike Williams (Graham), Rick Halo (Wheatmore), Danny Way (E. Alamance)
Region 6 – Jason Phelix (Piedmont), Claire Lyerly (Weddington)
Region 7 – Dwayne Berrier (N. Wilkes), Glenn Craddock (Surry Central)
Region 8 – Doug Leonard (Rosman)
East Seniors – Chip Adams (Ashley), Patrick Williams (Scotland County)

The Powerade State Games of North Carolina is gearing up for another year of exciting competition in the Charlotte region. The 27th annual Powerade State Games begins on June 1st and concludes on June 30th and covers the entirety of Mecklenburg County and beyond, with competitions taking place in Mooresville, Huntersville, Cornelius, Davidson, Charlotte, Indian Trail, Pineville and Wingate. Registration is now open for all sports. Athletes can visit www.ncsports.org to register for each event.

The 2013 Opening Ceremonies will be held June 21 at the NASCAR Hall of Fame in uptown Charlotte. The Opening Ceremonies features a commemorative gift for participating athletes, games, music, a parade of athletes and a lighting of the cauldron to announce the official start to the 2013 Powerade State Games of North Carolina.
