Appalachian State began spring football practice Friday and this year’s 15-day schedule includes an intra-squad scrimmage in Charlotte and a closing spring game at Kidd Brewer Stadium. Both of those events are open to the public.

The spring game is scheduled for 2 p.m. on April 20.

“We’ll call it a spring game, but I don’t know if we’ll divide the teams and do it that way,” Coach Scott Satterfield of Appalachian said. “A lot depends on the numbers, how healthy we are and that kind of thing. But it will definitely be a competitive offensive team vs. defensive team and we will keep score and run it like a game situation.”

The Charlotte scrimmage is set for 2 p.m. on April 13 at Ardrey Kell High School.

“We’ve never done that before,” Satterfield said. “The main thing is to get out and let alumni and recruits watch you practice. It’s a good location. You can get Upstate South Carolina people as well as the Charlotte area, where we have a lot of alumni.”
