GC Women’s Lacrosse Rolls Past LaGrange 18-1

The Pride women’s lacrosse team (4-8 overall, 4-1 USA South) ran out to a 13-0 lead en route to an 18-1 victory at LaGrange (5-6 overall, 2-3 USA South) on Sunday. Greensboro has now won three in a row and four of its past five.

Brittany Ziobro got the day started right with the first two goals of the game. The Pride blew the game open with four goals during a 2:47 stretch in the first half.

Micaela Sandoval jumpstarted the run with a free position score with 8:45 remaining the first half. Nadya Fedun and Alexa Besch also found net, with Ziobro capping the run at the 6:58 mark.

Greensboro would add two more goals – by Kirstin Norris and Amira Khatib – in the final minute to take an 8-0 lead into the break.

Kayla Gonzalez opened the scoring in the second half and Ziobro converted for her fourth and fifth goals of the day to extend the margin to 11-0. Norris and Besch would also score before LaGrange reached teh scoreboard with 18:41 to go in the game.

The Pride would eliminate any chance of a late Panther comeback, scoring the final five goals of the game. Ziobro contributed two scores, with Gonzalez, Norris and Jordan Balasus adding one apiece.

Ziobro finished with a game high seven goals on nine shots. Norris recorded three, while Gonzalez and Besch tallied two apiece. In addition to her three goals, Norris had ten ground balls, won ten draw controls and caused a team best four turnovers. Kaleigh Hemstock made two saves in net to earn the win.

Greensboro will return home on Wednesday for a 3 p.m. contest with Huntingdon.
