Rockingham Community College Baseball Takes 2 of 3 From College of The Albemarle

The Rockingham Community College baseball team won its fifth straight conference series this past weekend at College of The Albemarle. After losing game one 3-6, RCC bounced back with 6-1 and 8-0 wins. The Eagles are now 19-8 overall and 12-2 in Region X DII conference play. RCC is 2 games up in the win column over CVCC (20-5/10-1) and 1 game behind them in the loss column.

Kaleb Houchins (Morehead) gave up 5 runs (3 ER) in 5 innings of work in the loss. His record is now 3-2 on the year. Adam Gunn (EG), Tommy King (GBD), Andrew Brann (BY), Sean Henderson (PHS), and Devin Gaffney (McM) all had one hit each in the 3-6 loss.
The Eagles bounced back with a 6-1 win in game two on Saturday. Will Green (RCHS) pitched 6.1 innings allowing 5 hits and one run in route to the victory. He is now 5-0 on the year. Houston Ison (HPC) and Marshall Creed (Surry Central) had 2 hits each to lead the offense. The Eagles got out front early with a 3 run second inning lead by Ison’s 2 run double. Henderson, Gaffney, and Gunn also drove in one run each.

In game 3 of the series on Sunday, Dallas Baldwin (Williams) pitched a complete game, 3 hit shut-out to earn the win as RCC cruised to an 8-0 victory. Baldwin is now 4-0 on the year. Gaffney collected 3 hits and 3 RBIs and Gunn was 2 for 2 with 3 runs scored. Ison continued his hot streak with 2 hits while Henderson, King, Brann, and Jordan Brown (NEG) had one each.

The Eagles are back in action on Wednesday against Averett University JVs in Danville VA at 3PM. They will host Wilkes Community College for a 3 game set beginning Friday with game one of the doubleheader slated to start at 1PM. Game 3 on Saturday is also scheduled for 1PM.
