HIGH POINT —Cheyenne Parker(Southwest Guilford High School), the Big South defensive player of the year and an all-conference selection, has left the women’s basketball program, the University announced Monday night.
A short news release from the university said the decision was “mutual.” Parker, a junior averaged 17.9 points, 13.2 rebounds and 4,4 blocks per game.
“Cheyenne Parker is a very talented player,” said Hendrix. “However, High Point University is no longer the best fit for her. We look forward to continuing to build this program with our current student-athletes and the talented recruits joining us next year.”
The release said that Hendrix and HPU athletic department officials had no other comment.
*****This past season, Parker set a Big South Conference record for blocks and she was named to the Big South All-Defensive team for 2012/2013….*****
Why is she leaving:
Yes, it is sad, but it is even ssadder that the Athletic Administration at HPU has continued to fail her since her freshman year. You cannot map a successful season of unaccomplished coaching on the backs of talented players. The leadership was completely lacking this past season, but thats Cheyenne’s fault right? She made the right decision, I feel sorry for the talent that remains, Hendrix is LOST and needs to go back to class.
