GC Women’s Lacrosse Beats Methodist for Fifth Straight Win

The Greensboro College women’s lacrosse team (9-5 overall, 5-1 USA South) continued its roll through the USA South with a 21-3 home win over Methodist (1-9 overall, 1-6 USA South) on Friday afternoon. The Pride have now won five in a row and six of the past seven.

Greensboro took control from the start, scoring the first five goals of the game. Brittany Ziobro put up the first two in the opening 3:50 of the game. Micaela Sandoval recorded the third goal with Alexa Besch beating the keeper for the next two, making the score 5-0 at the 19:37 mark.

The Monarchs reached the board to cut the gap to 5-1 before The Pride tacked on eight unanswered goals. Nadya Fedun and Besch scored three times each during the run, with Ziobro and Kirstin Norris contributing one apiece. Methodist would score the final goal of the half to send the game into the break with Greensboro on top 13-2.

The Pride continued to pour it on early in the second with goals by Besch, Gonzalez and Fedun. The Monarchs would post its final goal of the day with 17:53 to go, bringing the margin to 16-3.

Greensboro would answer with one final five goal spurt to end the game. Capping the scoring for The Pride were Norris and Gonzalez with two goals and Jordan Balasus with one.

Fedun led all scorers on the day with four goals to go along with one assist. Ziobro also had a big day with three goals and six assists. Joining the scoring fun with three goals apiece were Gonzalez and Norris, while Sandoval and Balasus finished with one.

Greensboro outshot Methodist 33-7 and won 22 of the 27 draw controls – with Norris earning five wins. The Pride also forced 11 turnovers, while only committing six.

Greensboro will be back at home for Senior Day on Saturday at 11 a.m. against Agnes Scott. The game will be played on Pride Field on the Greensboro College campus.
