Former Indiana Hoosier player and recent New Mexico Lobos coach Steve Alford has been named the new head basketball coach at the Univeristy of California at Los Angeles/UCLA today…

Alford takes over for Ben Howland who was fired last week and does this mean that Mark Gottfried will be staying in Raleigh, at N.C. State???

You would think so and the questions are still up in the air on whether C.J. Leslie, Rodney Purvis and T.J Warren will be back with the N.C. State Wolfpack next season…..Can Gottfried keep them all in the house? Best bet is that Leslie is gone for sure and the jury is still out on Purvis and Warren….Warren will do what his dad Tony tells him to do and Purvis is anyone’s guess to where he will be next week, let alone next season….

More on Steve Alford to UCLA for 2.8 million a year, plus UCLA takes care of the New Mexico buyout and there are other incentives and you can see them all when you CLICK HERE….Alford averaged over 37 points a game in high school and I never knew that, did you?

The tweet that came our way earlier today from Coach Mark Gottfried at N.C. State:
I am committed to being at @NCState for a long time Still as dedicated to rebuilding the program as I was 2 yrs ago when I arrived…
