College Men’s Golf Results – Guilford Seventh After Day 1 of Emory Invitational

ATLANTA – Guilford College shot 303 in Monday’s opening round of the Emory University Spring Invitational at the Druid Hills Golf Club. The Quakers hold seventh place among 15 schools in the 36-hole tournament.

Methodist University had three students shoot one-under-par 71 to open a two-stroke lead over Ogelthorpe University. The Monarchs shot 285 as a team, three under par, compared to the Stormy Petrels’ 287. Brian Jaeger of Christopher Newport University carded a three-under 69, the day’s low score, and helped the Captains into third place at 292.

Oglethorpe’s Eric Quinn shot 70 Monday and sits alone in second place. Methodist’s Mike Wesko, Andrew Bateman and Jeff Wells joined Oglethorpe’s Anthony Maccaglia and Emory’s Alex Wunderlich in a five-way share of third place after each golfer shot 71.

Senior Noah Ratner’s one-over-par 73 paced Guilford and sits 10th in the 78-man field. Teammate Dallas Page (Reidsville, N.C./Rockingham County (Averett)) shot 75 and is in a share of 19th place. The Quakers’ Drew Thompson (77) and Nick Shedd (78) and Travis Tolbert (78) rounded out the scoring for coach Corey Maggard’s club.

Guilford tees off Tuesday (4/2) at 8:00 a.m. in the second and final round.
