College Track & Field News – Guilford Distance Runners Compete in Day One of Duke Invitational

DURHAM, N.C.—Guilford College’s distance runners kicked off the Quakers’ first day at the two-day Duke Invitational.

Andris Goncarovs took the fourth best Division III time in the 5,000 meter “B” section run at 14:59.46. Goncarovs finished 13th overall and his time is the fourth best in school history. Chad Norton (15:20.19) finished with the sixth best Division III time.

Jasmine O’Neill (Winston-Salem, N.C./Parkland) (5:27.20) took the fifth best Division III time in the developmental section of the 1,500 meter run. Her time stands fourth in school history. Emily Cash (5:36.00) finished with the seventh best Division III time, her season best mark. Pasangi Perera (5:42.67) took the eighth best Division III time while Jamie Luckhaus (Greensboro, N.C./Western Guilford) (6:22.55) took the ninth best Division III mark, running her season-best time.

Patrick Westervelt (Oak Ridge, N.C./Northwest Guilford) (5:06.05) finished with the sixth best Division III time in the developmental section of the 1,500 meter run.

Guilford’s sprinters and middle distance runners join the distance runners on the track tomorrow in day two of the Duke Invitational.
