HPU’s Jordan Named Defensive Player of the Week in Women’s Lacrosse

High Point University junior Jasmine Jordan has been named Big South Defensive Player of the Week, it was announced on Monday. Jordan amassed nine ground balls, five caused turnovers and three draw controls in helping High Point to a 3-0 week.

Jordan posted four ground balls each as the Panthers defeated Coastal Carolina and Winthrop. She also had three caused turnovers and two draw controls against the Chanticleers. Her defense helped HPU hold its three Big South foes to an average of 5.67 goals last week.

The Panthers are now 4-0 in the Big South and play Davidson on the road on Friday at 6 p.m. The Wildcats are also 4-0.

Jordan leads High Point in ground balls (34), caused turnovers (21) and ranks third on the team in draw controls (21). She also has two goals in 12 games this season.

In addition to her Big South award, Jordan was ranked No. 8, nationally, in the LaxPower Player Impact Ratings released on Monday.

Now in her third season with the Panthers, Jordan has played in all 50 games in program history. She is High Point’s all-time leader in ground balls (128), caused turnovers (72) and ranks third all-time in draw controls (71).
