Men’s College Tennis Final – Emory & Henry 7, Guilford 2

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Ben Nelson had a hand in both of Guilford’s men’s tennis victories in its 7-2 loss at Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC)-foe Emory & Henry College Sunday.

Nelson won his sixth singles match 9-8 (7-3) in tiebreak. Turner Votipka lost his first singles sets against Emory & Henry’s (11-2, 6-1 ODAC) James Keighley in a close tiebreak 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (7-5).

Votipka and Nelson paired for Guilford’s (5-7, 3-4 ODAC) only doubles win, defeating Keighley and Webster Gilley, 9-7.

Emory & Henry improved to 11-2 with the win and are ranked second in conference.

The Quakers return to action Friday, Apr. 12 at Roanoke College at 2:30 p.m. The ODAC match was rescheduled from Mar. 17.
